Other Random Acts of Kindness Ideas during Covid-19:

  1. Sign your child up for a “peaceful pen pal” HERE.

  2. Sign up to send and receive Loving Letters for Grandfriends HERE.

  3. Paint rocks with kind words to place around the community on family walks.

  4. Write thank you letters to healthcare workers.

  5. Surprise delivery drivers with gratitude gifts or cards. Place a note, food, water, or roll of toilet paper by your front door (no contact!)

A FEW OF MRS. FERNSTROM’S FAVORITE BOOKS ABOUT KINDNESS

Some of these books talk specifically about kind things you can do and some of them provide a great opportunity to discuss how the characters are being unkind and how your child might choose to show kindness and improve the situation.

Week #3: An At Home Idea

Are you finding it difficult to balance working from home and having kids at home? Here is a resource to help your child with the question “What can I do?”

Fill a jar, bowl, or hat with around 20 things your child can do on their own (without your help). It can be random acts of kindness, chores, favorite things to do, movement tasks, or academic related tasks. When they are unsure what to do, they can pull out an option. Set up expectations around each option: no questions asked, you must complete what you draw, do not put options back.

Add in 2-3 a day to keep it interesting!
